Problem

My team was tasked with developing and producing a new Office icons style that would align to the Windows 10 icons, while also considering specific needs for the Office applications. This set was initially designed for new mobile applications and eventually expanded to work across most Office platforms including both Windows and Mac desktop applications, web apps, and Android mobile apps.

As part of the style update, the new icons would be made as fonts, which would add new parameters and challenges.

Solution

I worked with the team to develop the style, create guidelines, make icon common elements, design and produce the new icons, and troubleshooting technical issues with font production. Additionally, I was tasked as the liaison to the Outlook team and focused on icons needed for their Mail and Calendar apps.

 

When the set expanded, as a senior designer I worked on style compliance and reviews, troubleshooting issues, and training new teammates.
